Ethnocafe: Presentation of the monograph “Roma literature” by Sofia Zakhova
March 21, 2024 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Free
The last Ethnocafene will focus on Roma literature through the monographic book “Roma Literature” (“Paradigm”) by Sofia Zakhova created under the “Unity in Diversity” project. She is part of the team of the Icelandic project partner – Vigdís International Center for Multilingual and Intercultural Understanding.
“Roma literature” reveals the history of an unknown literature from its inception in the 19th century to the digital age, when Romani literature is a transnational phenomenon. The monograph offers a historical overview of the main trends, authors, themes and events in the field of Roma literary creativity and journalism. The monograph outlines the trends in the development of Roma literature as a general historical phenomenon and at the same time analyzes the specifics of individual historical periods, geographical regions and countries.
Written in an accessible way and containing a wealth of photographic material that illustrates the themes of the publication, “Roma Literature” will be valuable both to specialists and to all readers interested in the Romani language and literature.
The “Ethnocafe” event is part of the “United in Diversity” project, implemented with the support of the Program “Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation” and the Financial Mechanism of the EEA and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism in Bulgaria.
The event will be held on the second floor of the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”. Welcome!
